Last Minute Decision

Updated: Nov 11, 2019

I decided this past weekend to run a 5k up in Kansas City. That meant I had to get up at 3am to make the drive and be there in time for the race start. Which also means Numb Butt!! The weather was calling for thunderstorms all day long (why did I choose this race?!). The course had more hills than I expected, but the rain did hold off for my race (1/2 marathoners weren't so lucky). The race started out on a slight downhill, but within a minute we were turned around and going uphill. The uphill was gradual and seemed to last up until the 1/2 way point. Which is nice to think "I'm gonna fly on the way to the finish". I wanted to finish in under 21 minutes. I ended up with a 21:02! So Close!! My watch died within seconds after the start, so my idea was to slowly start to linger from 1st place lady. It almost worked :) I ended up 2nd place overall and 1st in my age group.

Was the race worth it?......Always!

Next (planned) race is an Adventuremax 10k in Highlandville, October 12th.
